Love the quotes and learn every day
I’m curious about what context the “How do we get water from a well” quote is taken from.
Benjamin,
It is from his video series “Chosen by God” (book page 71). He is referring to his debate with a professor over the meaning of the Greek word for “draw”. The video is on Ligonier.com.
Blessings!

I love RC.Sproul’s weekend edition sermons that I download from Ligonier Ministries, and was delighted to find some of his quotes here. Thanks !!!
Your welcome! You might enjoy these too. -Dani
The annual ligionier conference is this week!!!!
Benjamin,
Going off of what Josh said was that in the debate they were debating over the word ‘Draw’ in John 6:44 where Jesus states ‘no man can come to the Father unless He draws him’. The Greek word here is ‘Eklo’ which means more precisely to drag, rather than what we think of as draw. Drag represents like pulling on your dogs leash to get him to follow you, as draw is more like clapping your hands and calling the dogs name. The man who Sproul was debating against stated that a Greek poet used the word ‘Eklo’ as in the context of drawing water up from a well. The man stated ‘Do you drag water out of a well?’ and Sproul replied ‘True, but do we woo the water to come out? And so on into quote number five.
I’m Terribly sorry if i misquoted anything, I had the best intentions in mind. God Bless.
